Audacity

About the Group

Who would have the "audacity" to sing a Pentatonix arrangement and a tribute to John Williams/Star Wars in the same concert? Well, this group would!

Audacity is the open-enrollment (non-auditioned) group in the BYU A Cappella Club, and is directed by one of the club officers. It began as the "club choir" in which everyone with an interest in a cappella music was welcome and invited to participate, even if they were already in another group.

In 2013, the name of the group was changed to Audacity to be more consistent with its contemporary a cappella style of performance. Every semester, BYU students (as well as faculty and staff) of all levels of skill and experience are welcome to participate.

The ultimate goal of the group is to have fun with contemporary a cappella music, and to help its audiences enjoy it as well. It's a great group for those looking for less of a time commitment than most of the other groups. It also serves as a great introduction to a cappella for those less familiar with the genre, and has helped a number of people become more prepared to audition for more advanced groups (such as BYU Vocal Point and BYU Noteworthy!).

How to Join

During the fall/winter semesters, Audacity rehearses every Tuesday from 7-8pm (Clubs Night) in the Varsity Theater. Just show up to rehearsal if you're interested! The group members practice music in order to perform every semester at the Sing & Shout.
